Looseness of the more recent coastal neighborhood of Jarun and typological presence of the pavilion of public matter along the Jarun lake have conditioned the spatial thought of the future kindergarten. Kindergarten is, as one of pavilions, situated in the yard garden which inherits and intensifies the nature from the southern doorstep, drawing in the Jarun’s flora back to the urbanized tissue of past Sava’s branches. Right here is the border between the city and nature, between the built and the unbuilt. The house actualizes this boundary.
A rigid northern canvas is subtle and opens on necessary spots together with the future square, forming a clear moment of urbanity not deviating from neighboring structures. A clear front, the facade of the square, is shattered by the moment of house entrance. On the other side, units open up towards the intensive nature of the yard. On the juncture of hard supplying northern outline and southern loose interior and exterior is a renewed quarter square as a place of larger children’s gatherings.
Jarun’s cultivated landscape radially expands unchallenged. The principle is preserved. The design suggests a natural topography of intertwisting curves which evoke Sava’s branches and soft lines of flora and fauna expansions inherent to nature. In the context of freestanding structures, devoid of clear facade, the emptiness of the upcoming square receives a perimeter alley whose treetops give the volume and border to this space, in the meantime attaining it pleasant for staying, continuing the breakthrough of the nature towards the city.
A compact freestanding building establishes the functional system into a meaningful whole. It does not occupy the space redundantly to enable children an as comfortable as possible stay in as much as greenery. Kindergarten rooms on the first floor are drawn in, dragging the nature with itself. The materiality is economical and rational, with an emphasis on well-being and spatial relations. The kindergarten is designed as a nearly zero-energy building.
